Introduction
The Footprint cold chisel and Brick Bolster range have earned an international reputation for quality and professional performance. This has been achieved by maintaining the control of all the manufacturing operations within Footprint. This is especially important for the initial key operations such as forging and heat treatment which determine the inherent properties of such tools.
With the popular sizes being one piece drop forgings from our own forge in Sheffield, the chisels, and especially the brick bolsters have added strength designed into their shape at the neck, a common place for inferior designs to break.
A large proportion of the range are offered with a protective plastic grip. Made from a strong, hardwearing, high impact plastic, this grip improves chisel handling and provides protection from the striking tool.
To ensure exceptional performance and long working life, the tools undergo controlled hardening and tempering, followed by accurate grinding which results in excellent working edges. Nearly all the cold chisels and bolsters are manufactured with a domed anti-mushroom head which helps prevent spreading of the striking head.

All Footprint Brick Bolsters are manufactured with BS 3066 as the minimum applicable standard.
All Footprint Brick Bolsters and the marked Cold Chisels are drop forged as a single piece. This builds in extra strength which is improved further when hardened and tempered.
